Russian Tourist Flow to Turkey Exceeds One Million from January to April

From January to April 2024, more than one million Russian tourists visited Turkey, which is 5% more than in the same period last year, according to the statistics from the country's Ministry of Tourism and Culture.

The total number of foreign tourists amounted to 10.6 million, which is almost 12% more than in January-April 2023. Tourists from Germany are the leaders in number: 1.1 million arrived from January to April, which is 16% more compared to the same period in 2023.

Russians are in second place with nearly 1.08 million tourists, which is 6% less compared to the same period in 2023 (1.15 million). However, in April, the Russian tourist flow was 396 thousand, which is 4% higher than in the same month last year.

Tourists from Iran ranked third, with their number reaching 950 thousand, which is 52% more compared to 2023. The top five also included tourists from Bulgaria and the United Kingdom.

Istanbul received the largest number of foreign tourists at the beginning of the year (5.2 million), which is almost 50% of all foreign tourist arrivals. Antalya is in second place (1.84 million).

Throughout 2023, 6.3 million Russians visited Turkey. Experts expect that this year the Russian tourist flow will be higher, as vacations in the country are selling significantly better than a year ago.
