Agreement on mutual recognition of visas of Belarus and Russia will enter into force at the end of the year

According to Krutoy's statement, the agreement on mutual recognition of visas between Belarus and Russia will come into force by the end of the current year. At the Group meeting, the consideration of information systems, identified as key for the current year, was emphasized.

The primary focus is on the visa agreement signed regarding "third countries." Krutoy stated that intensive work is currently underway, with a specific task set to finalize the action plan by the 25th anniversary of the Union Treaty. It is planned for a unified information system to be operational by December 8, making the agreement practically effective.

The ambassador expressed hope for positive outcomes in terms of tourism, business flow, and overall convenience for citizens of both countries when crossing borders. In early 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin ratified the agreement on mutual recognition of visas and other matters related to the entry of foreign citizens and stateless persons into the countries of the Union State. Signed in Minsk on June 19, 2020, the agreement aims to establish a legal framework for regulating the crossing of the border between Belarus and Russia, granting foreigners the right to enter, exit, and stay in both countries based on a visa from either state and identity documents.
