The direct flight from Aeroflot has sparked increased interest in vacationing in Mauritius.

Mauritius attracts tourists with its luxurious hotels, high level of service, and diverse excursion opportunities. Prices for staying in elite hotels on the island are quite affordable and often even lower than comparable hotels in the Maldives, which have long remained the most sought-after destination in the Indian Ocean, according to experts.

An additional advantage is the visa-free regime for Russian citizens, requiring only a valid passport and a return flight ticket.

In January of this year, a representative of Aeroflot informed tour operators that the airline plans to continue flights to Mauritius until May. Some experts note that the load factor on the flights left much to be desired, which could accelerate the termination of flights. However, according to information from Dmitry Arutyunov, director of the company "Art-Tour," Aeroflot did not intend to continue flights until May because by that time the climate on the island deteriorates, leading to a corresponding decrease in demand.

In 2023, the island was visited by 14.5 thousand Russian tourists, almost 30% more than in 2019, before the pandemic.

One of the goals of the island's tourism management for 2024 is to double the number of tourists from Russia.
