A draft law on rural tourism was submitted to the State Duma on Thursday. It aims to develop measures for the growth of this type of tourism and establish mechanisms for state support.
“We have submitted a draft law to the State Duma that aims to enshrine the concept of ‘rural tourism’ in sectoral legislation as one of the directions for the development of domestic tourism and the comprehensive development of rural areas. The implementation of this law will enable the creation of a set of measures for the development of rural tourism, as well as establish mechanisms for state support and form an objective statistical database of organizations engaged in tourism in rural areas, distinguishing them from urban ones,” Interfax quotes the first Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Nadezhda Shkolkina.
She noted that currently, services in the field of rural tourism can only be provided by agricultural producers, but the share of these services in their total volume of activities is no more than 10%.
