The head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Ambassador of Bahrain held a meeting where they discussed the possible simplification of the visa regime. The main focus was on issues of bilateral consular cooperation. The official statement indicates that prospects for streamlining visa issuance procedures between the two countries were examined.
Earlier, Nikita Kondratyev, the head of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, mentioned the potential abolition of the visa regime with Bahrain, as well as with several other countries such as Malaysia, Myanmar, Oman, and Saudi Arabia. According to him, agreements with these states are actively being discussed and presented to foreign partners for consideration. The signing of these agreements is expected in 2024.
